Quantum Computing Breakthroughs in Finance and Telecom Highlighted at International Panel
Fujitsu, Quantinuum, and D-Wave showcased tangible progress in quantum computing applications beyond research labs during a recent panel hosted by The Quantum Insider. The event, part of the International Year of Quantum, drew global participation from over 1,000 attendees across 70+ countries.
Fujitsu's CTO for Financial Services revealed ambitious hardware roadmaps, targeting 10,000 physical qubits by 2030 to achieve 250 error-corrected logical qubits—a critical threshold for commercial viability. "We're moving beyond qubit counts to focus on error-free logical qubits," emphasized Franco Severini during his presentation.
While the discussion focused on quantum advancements rather than direct cryptocurrency implications, the financial sector applications could eventually intersect with blockchain infrastructure. Quantum-resistant cryptography remains a key consideration for future-proofing digital assets.
